Hi, I'm Chris Erickson, thanks for coming by. If you have time, let me tell you a bit about myself.
As far back as I can remember I’ve been fanatic about making beautiful things that work well. I’m a designer at heart and trade and I love finding better ways of doing old things.
For better or worse, I am a compulsive learner. I desperately want to know how to do everything. I have a deep love for great typography and what I have come to call the mid-century working-class aesthetic. While I started my career in traditional print, the web needs help and I’m a helpy person. Along the way I’ve picked up enough dev skills to get things done and keeping up with the times makes me a constant apprentice.
Outside of work, you can find me chasing after my three young kids, Malia, Bright and Daisy or trying to find a peaceful moment with my wife Stacey.
By day I’m the Prime Minister at Parliament, a well-endowed design studio. We have the good fortune of spending our time kicking out award-winning projects for great clients like Adobe, Volkswagen, HP, Burger King, Fox Searchlight, RecycleBank and Microsoft. It’s a rough life.
If you’re ever in Portland feel free to swing by and say hello. A heads-up is always appreciated, but we’ll do our best to accommodate drop-ins. We recently completed a studio renovation of truly epic proportions. Words really don’t do it justice, you have to check out the Flickr pics or see it in person.
One last note. If you are the best at what you do and you want to do it at Parliament, feel free to send use your resume and examples of your work.
The simple functionality of Chris Erickson’s portfolio site is just...beautiful.
Check out the work (and not work) of Chris Erickson. I freaking ADORE the navigation and interface, the work is great (seriously, all of it), the sketches are great, and we found out yesterday that he might love magazines as much as I do.
Chris Erickson’s portfolio is filled to the rim with sparkling ideas, designs, illustrations and more. At the same time, the navigation is so smooth and delicate that I can only say two thumbs up to Chris for sharing this beauty with the web.
In the work and not work of Chris Erickson, we don’t find a lot not to love. We are totally crazy about the compressed minimalist UI that gives us a very easy framework from which to view his print, identity, packaging and industrial design talents. Don’t sleep on the not work (or "play") which unveils a compassionate and down to earth side to this talented multimedia designer.
